Using Clocker with Project Calico to run production workloads in the cloud
This talk will introduce Clocker – the open source Docker cloud maker – and show how you can use this to test and deploy Apache Brooklyn blueprints for your production workloads in the Cloud. Using Docker containers instead of VMs, Clocker enables testing of a full simulation of your production topology, allowing every aspect of your resilience, failover and scaling policies to be tested thoroughly. We will show how a multi-tier, multi-network application can be deployed into a Clocker managed Docker Cloud, using Project Calico’s SDN technology to provide a full suite of network choices. Clocker uses Apache jclouds to provide seamless access to both containers and VMs, thanks to its provider agnostic API, and uses Apache Brooklyn to allow complex topologies to be described using industry standard YAML blueprints. Finally, we will explain how you can use other mechanisms like Swarm and Mesos with Clocker, to take full advantage of the possibilities for container based infrastructures.
